Cassis and the calanques
Offshore from Hyères the Golden Islands seem to be floating against the horizon. The islands can easily be reached by boat and offer a great nature outing near the continent and the Var coast. Port Cros, the smallest island, has remained unspoiled, despite a few dwellings and remains of the Fort du Moulin that still watch over the harbour. It can only be visited on foot or by bicycle. Porquerolles has a more peaceful setting with unspoiled sand beaches and restaurants. Departures possible from Cavalaire.
