Cassis and the calanques
If nature would be an artist, these gorges would be his masterpiece. Like a winding emerald snake, the Verdon has hollowed out deep gorges in the hinterland of the Var, creating Europe’s biggest canyon. During a hike on the paths that seem to be tightrope dancing above the dazzling cliffs or by canoe on the water of the canyon, you can enjoy an amazing sight. After the gorges, the water of the Verdon river calms down and ends up in the lake of Sainte-Croix; the ideal spot to swim or practise water sports, surrounded by the landscapes of the Haute-Provence.
